TCA supporting Sue Ryder Care

Students and staff at TCA are being encouraged to donate unwanted goods to help raise money for Sue Ryder Care.

Representatives from Sue Ryder visited TCA before half term and gave assemblies to each learning community about their work.

Sue Ryder Care has 13 care centres across the country which provide compassionate care and support for people with palliative, long-term and end of life needs. It also has a shop in Market Place, Wisbech.

Every TCA student has been given a Sue Ryder donation bag and asked to fill it with donations for the cause. Donations could include clothes, shoes, DVDs, CDs, games and other items.

Assistant Principal Jonathan Holmes said: “Our visitors from Sue Ryder spoke to the students in assembly about what their organisation is about.

“As part of the assemblies they dressed two students up in clothes available in their shops and told them how much the clothes would cost them in Sue Ryder shops.

“They also explained to students about the costs of an hour of nursing, therapy sessions and the cost of food for someone in one of their hospices.

“Every student has been given a donation bag now.

“This is all about forging links with an important local charity.”
