Important Public Health information

Please see the message below sent on behalf of the Public Health team at Cambridgeshire County Council:

Dear Parent/Carer

You are probably aware that there has been an outbreak of coronavirus at the Princes factory in Wisbech.

A number of people who work at the factory have tested positive for coronavirus. To help prevent further spread of the virus these people are now self-isolating at home. A number of other people who have been in close contact with those who have tested positive are also self-isolating.

This factory has undertaken all the necessary measures to reduce the risk of infection and the situation is stabilising.

However, the virus will likely be circulating in the wider community so we are asking you to be vigilant, alert to the symptoms of coronavirus and to take steps to reduce your chances of catching the virus to keep you and your loved ones safe.

Please be alert to the symptoms of coronavirus - a fever, a new continuous cough or a loss or change of taste or smell.

There is lots we can all do to reduce our chances of catching the virus, including:

·       Keeping two metres apart from others when you go out. Where this is not possible, keep at least 1m apart.

·       Washing your hands regularly.

·       Working from home where possible.

·       Wearing face coverings on public transport, in shops and in other locations.

·       Limiting gatherings to no more than two households at a time.

If you develop symptoms, it is really important that you self-isolate immediately. This will limit the spread of the virus and protect your family and friends.

Please follow this three-step plan:

·       Step 1 - If you have one or more of the symptoms of coronavirus you and the people you live with must immediately self-isolate. You must isolate for seven days from when your symptoms started and members of your household for 14 days.

·       Step 2 – You then must book a test on the www.NHS/coronavirus website and if you don’t have internet access dial 119. You must only leave home to get tested. If you test positive, you will be contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service within 24 hours. If you test negative, you and the people you live with no longer need to isolate if everyone in the household is well and symptom free.

·       Step 3 – If you do test positive, NHS Test and Trace will help you to identify who you have been in close contact with and might have infected. Those contacts will have to isolate for 14 days.

If you are called by Test and Trace, told you are a contact, and asked to isolate, you must do it. Even if you don’t have symptoms or feel perfectly well. This is because you can have the virus without getting symptoms and you can pass it on to other people without having symptoms.

If you do have to isolate and need help and support, please contact Fenland local support hub for assistance. The hub can help you access food and medicine, offer financial advice and provide support in many other ways. Visit www.fenland.gov.uk/coronavirus or call 01354 654321.
