Thought-provoking fun at TCA

Year 7 students at Thomas Clarkson Academy took part in an inspirational day of activities designed to help them make a positive contribution to their school and community.

Since September 2013 the school has been working with social enterprise company Human Utopia which creates and runs inspirational and life-changing courses in schools for students and staff.

The aim of the courses is to inspire change in people and communities by helping people improve their own life-chances and by challenging them to make a positive contribution to their school and community.

Sarah Loosemore, progress leader at TCA, said: “Human Utopia visits are always fun, thought provoking, challenging and emotional.

“The day was spent with Human Utopia delivering some sessions and then our Year 11 Heroes really showed how well they are developing their personal reflection and development skills by leading small groups in different activities and really getting to know our Year 7 pupils.

“The atmosphere in the theatre was brilliant with everyone enjoying their experience. The Heroes commented that this was their best Human Utopia visit by far as the Year 7 pupils really engaged in the activities.”

Further visits are planned for the rest of the year groups in the Academy and will most certainly be something to look forward to.

The day ended with the Heroes soaking Carlo from Human Utopia in an ice bucket challenge having been nominated by Suki Sagoo, a Year 11 hero and Head girl of King Community.
