Anti-bullying ambassadors needed

TCA is recruiting a team of anti-bullying ambassadors to act as the first point of contact for any students who feel they are being bullied.

TCA is recruiting a team of anti-bullying ambassadors to act as the first point of contact for any students who feel they are being bullied.

We would like to appoint 20 ambassadors from years 10 and 11 who can help solve any problems and support students who may feel bullied.

They will join the existing team of three students, Hannah Loughlin, Charlotte Cameron and Connor Brophy, who already offer this valuable support to the school.

Hannah said: “Because we are closer in age to the students it is probably easier for them to open up to us. We can write a statement about what is happening and then take that to the communities to follow up.”

Charlotte said: “I feel that if people want to talk to me I can relate to what they’re going through and feel empathy for them. I wouldn’t want anyone to be in the situation where they felt they couldn’t talk to anyone.”

Miss Coleman, SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural) co-ordinator, said: “We want to ensure our students are learning in a safe and happy environment. We recognise that sometimes bullying can occur so we are doing everything we can to make sure our students know they always have somewhere to turn, with a team of ambassadors on hand to help and support them.

“Students can always speak to any member of staff about any problems they are encountering, but we recognise that sometimes they may feel more comfortable speaking to someone closer to their own age which is why we are recruiting a team of anti-bullying ambassadors.”

To apply to be an ambassador please write to Miss Coleman outlining why you would like to be considered for the position. Letters must be in before half term.
