Budding writers invited to take part in student contest

Students are being invited to get creative and write their own piece of poetry or a short story for an Academy competition.

Students are being invited to get creative and write their own piece of poetry or a short story for an Academy competition.

To enter students must submit a poem or short story (maximum 2,000 words).

All entries must be typed, attached to a filled-out copy of the form below and returned to Miss Elizabeth Doneathy in M003 by Thursday, October 25th.

Judges will then read students’ work and will choose a winner and runner-up in three age categories – ages 11 to 13, 14 to 16 and Sixth Form students.

The three winners and three runners-up will be announced and presented with prizes before Christmas.

Miss Doneathy said: “The competition is being run to encourage life-long literacy skills and is something fun for the students.

“For the older students, it can look good on their CVs that they have stepped out of their comfort zones and taken part in a competition like this.”
