Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place each year on January 27 - the anniversary of the liberation of a concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust works to encourage remembrance of the Holocaust which saw the death of six million Jews, and also recalls other genocides which have taken place around the world.

Other groups of people have been targeted in countries including Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Each year people come together for Holocaust Memorial Day to learn more about the past and help create a safer future for everyone.

Our library has a selection of books to help you learn more about the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. They are in the history section (900s).
