TCA’s Race for Life Dedicated to Colleague
Staff and students will put their best foot forward as they remember a long-standing member of staff at this year’s Race for Life.
The event, which raises money for Cancer Research UK, will be dedicated to Louise Malkin, a DT technician who was a member of the support team at TCA and its predecessor school for more than 20 years. Louise lost her battle with cancer in October last year and is greatly missed by her colleagues at TCA.
Laura Buckenham is a humanities teacher at TCA and is also Louise’s niece. She said: “After the success of dedicating last year's race to our dear friend and colleague Nicki Cobbin, it's a lovely idea to dedicate this year's race to Auntie Louise.
“Her family are touched and a group of them will be supporting the event in her memory. So come on everyone, let's raise lots of money for a great cause!”
Staff, students and their families are invited to sign up to walk, jog, or run the 5km race, which starts at 6.30pm on Thursday 27th June. The entry fee is £2 for under 18s and £5 for adults.
In previous years, TCA has raised more than £4,000 through its Race for Life and there are hopes this figure could be reached again. Sponsor forms will be distributed to help raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause.
To register, return a completed registration form with the entry fees to Student Services by Friday 21st June. Each entrant will be given a race number and memory sheet for their t-shirt. Those without a race number will not be able to enter the race.
How do I enter?
Collect a letter from student services, fill it out and return with the payment to student services (£2 children, £5 adults)
How do I get my sponsor form?
Once you have entered the race, entry packs will be created for each family. These will include running numbers, memory cards for your back, sponsor money and a letter too.
I’m a member of staff, do I need to fill an entry form in?
Can I hand my entry form in now, and pay later?
